SLAAM fields regionally and nationally competitive teams that have an aggressive travel schedule. While we believe the competition in Western Pennsylvania is more than competitive for our lower youth programs 3rd – 7th grade. As a commitment to our players and families, we travel to regional and national AAU tournaments starting at the U13 age bracket, on through the U17. This provides our advanced players a competitive advantage to showcase their talents to college coaches in an effort to put them in position to play competitively beyond high school.

SLAAM makes it a priority to highlight players abilities to increase exposure at the collegiate level. We have helped dozens players get scholarships to NCAA division 1 and 2 colleges, in addition we have had several players receive full & partial grants in aid to NCAA Division 3, NAIA D1 & D2 along with USCAA schools & Junior Colleges. SLAAM works with players and families to help guide our players through what can be an overwhelming and exciting process. We believe in helping our athletes find the right school for players desiring to play beyond high school, and over 90% of athletes that have competed on our U17 teams the past 5 years are playing in college with financial assistance.

SLAAM holds team tryouts in September/October. SLAAM Tryouts are run by our team coaches, these coaches are responsible for selecting the teams. Teams are selected based on a number of factors including: work ethic, hustle, attitude, shooting, passing, dribbling, rebounding, and defensive skills. We strive to have these teams solidified within 5 days of the final tryout.

SLAAM plans to field at least 2 highly competitive teams at every AAU level from 3rd to 11th grade. Team numbers can vary depending on interest and ability, we will not field teams that we don't feel will be competitive, so the number of teams can vary from year to year.
